Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Brendan joined Smeets Law Corporation after earning his law degree at the University of Victoria in 2023. In addition, Brendan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta with a double major in Economics and Anthropology.

Brendan’s law school experience included a term working at The Law Centre, a student legal clinic in Victoria, where he helped low-income individuals with legal issues including proceedings at the Residential Tenancy Branch, the BC Human Rights Tribunal, and small claims court. Brendan also completed a co-op work term with the Department of Justice Canada, where he gained experience in immigration law.

During his undergraduate degree, Brendan did a study abroad term in Grenoble, France, where he gained some working knowledge of the French language.

Brendan’s hobbies and interests over the years have included intercollegiate debate, skiing, travel, theatre, and video games.
